Renowned Flautists to Give a Concert at Marymount College

The Los Angeles Flute Quartet featuring David Shostac and Frederick Staff with guest saxophone soloist Lee Raby, a Marymount College music professor, will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 9th.

The Los Angeles Flute Quartet is a newly developed ensemble by Shostac and Staff. They have worked together in the Song of the Angeles Flute Orchestra when Shostac is a guest soloist and Staff is the concert master, founder and artistic director.

Shostac performs as principal flute of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. He is active in the motion picture industry recording industry and can be heard on motion picture soundtracks such as Avatar and the Karate Kid. He has taught at USC, UCLA, California Institute of the Arts, the Aspen Music School and the Idyllwild Arts Academy. He is a faculty member at California State University Northridge.

Frederick has studied with Julius Baker, James Galway, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Geoffrey Gilbert, Harry Shub, Walfrid Kujala and with Shostac.
